NEW STAFF
I am pleased to inform you that we have a new Midday Supervisory Assistant (dinner lady). Mrs Rowena Cockerill, mum to Daniel, Alex and Charlotte, began her duties three weeks ago, and is still smiling!! We have also appointed a caretaker / cleaner – Ms Emma Holberry, whom some of you will know as she lives locally. We hope they will both be happy at Amotherby School.

We are still in need of a crossing patrol person, so if you know of anyone who would be interested or are interested yourself please contact school.

HARVEST COLLECTION
We have received many letters of thanks from the recipients of the Harvest hampers distributed after last week’s Harvest Festival. Many thanks for all your contributions which enabled us to assemble over twenty hampers. My thanks also go to Mrs Liversidge and Mrs Spence who put the hampers together.

The church was full and I hope those of you who attended enjoyed our celebration. We made a collection of £165.30, £100 of which the school has donated to the Martin House Hospice.

MUSIC TUITION
There will be no music tuition for those children who have their lessons with Mrs Watkinson for the week commencing 30th October 2006.

BONFIRE NIGHT CHURCH SERVICE

Family service for All Saints and Bonfire Night!
Sunday 5 November at 10.30am
Wear something bright and sparkly and come along to share in the fun !
Special thanks to all who attended the Harvest Family Service on 1 October which raised £162.50. We have been able to buy equipment for a mobile health clinic in Uganda, some midwifery kits for Burkina Faso, West Africa, and a can of worms for a Bolivian farmer to fertilise his fields.

Many thanks,
The Revd Beryl Bowes

BAGS2SCHOOL & BOOK FAYRE
Our Bags2school collection earlier this term weighed in at 720 kilos, giving a total of £165.60 raised for school funds. I’d like to thank all of you who made a contribution towards the collection.

I’d also like to thank Mrs Hopkin, Mrs Chazallet, Mrs Bills and Mrs Pitkin who helped ‘run’ the book fayre after school and those of you who made a purchase; the takings amounted to a staggering £541.91! School receives a 40% commission and books for use in school have been purchased.

ICT FACILITIES
As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the ICT suite is open every evening after school from 3.30 – 5.00pm, except for a Thursday when it is computer club until 4.00pm. The computers do have internet access, and are available for parents and children to use. Children must be supervised by an adult. If you are interested in using the suite contact school so that we know who to expect and can just draw your attention to some guidelines we have for the use of the suite.
